Lessonica ("we," "us") provides a browser extension and related services that help teachers generate vocabulary-instruction slides in their own Google Slides presentations. This policy explains what information Lessonica accesses, how it is used and protected, and the choices you have. It applies to the Lessonica extension, the lessonica.app website, and our backend services.
Information we access and collect
Google account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information. We use this solely to identify your account, track your generation quota, and manage your subscription.
Presentation content you choose to share. Lessonica uses Google's per-file drive.file permission. It can only access the specific presentations you explicitly select through the Google file picker. Within a selected presentation, Lessonica reads your designated template slide to detect placeholder tags, and writes the generated slides back into that same presentation. Lessonica cannot see, browse, or modify any other files in your Google Drive.
Content you submit for generation. Vocabulary words, subject or grade-level settings, and template tag information are sent to our backend to generate slide content.
Payment information. Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your card details; we retain only your subscription status and a Stripe customer reference.
Usage records. We keep counts of generations for quota enforcement and basic technical logs for reliability and abuse prevention.
How we use information
We use the information above for one purpose: providing Lessonica's slide-generation features to you. This includes generating vocabulary content, inserting slides into the presentation you selected, enforcing free-plan quotas, and operating paid subscriptions. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it for any purpose unrelated to the features you see in the product.
Google user data and Limited Use
Lessonica's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
No AI/ML training. We do not use any data obtained through Google Workspace APIs — including your presentation content — to develop, improve, or train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models. Content sent to our AI provider is used only to generate your requested slides and is not used by us to train models.
How we protect your data
- Encryption in transit. All communication between the extension, our backend, and third-party APIs uses HTTPS/TLS.
- Encryption at rest. Account and quota records are stored in Google Cloud Firestore, which encrypts all data at rest by default.
- No storage of your slides. Presentation content and generated slide text are processed transiently to fulfill your request and are not stored on our servers.
- Access tokens are not stored by us. Your Google sign-in token is managed by Chrome's identity system on your device. Our backend verifies it with Google on each request and does not retain it.
- Secured credentials. Backend API keys are held in Google Cloud Secret Manager, never in the extension.
- Least-privilege access. Production data access is restricted to the developer account, protected by two-factor authentication.
When we share information
We share data only with service providers acting on our instructions to run Lessonica: Google (Slides and Drive APIs, Cloud Functions, Firestore, sign-in), our AI generation provider (to produce the content you request), and Stripe (payments). We may also disclose information if required by law. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not transfer Google user data to third parties except as needed to provide the features described here or to comply with applicable law.
Retention and deletion
We retain account and subscription records while your account is active. Technical logs are retained for a limited period for reliability and security, then deleted. You can revoke Lessonica's access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. To request deletion of your account records, email us at the address below and we will delete them within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal or accounting purposes.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.
Children
Lessonica is designed for teachers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Student names or records are not required to use Lessonica, and we ask that users not submit them.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update this page and revise the date above. Continued use of Lessonica after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
